Quarter of a century

Specsavers' Truro opticians and hearing centre celebrated a quarter of a century of service in the community with an in store fundraiser and fun day. The team marked 25 years of optical care at its River Street base on 26 April, when staff and customers raised cash for Pirate Trust, Pirate FM’s charitable arm for good causes in the area.

Mayor John Tamblyn

On the day, special guest councillor John Tamblyn, Mayor of Truro, selected 11 lucky prize draw winners, who took home new designer specs. Other big attractions included a visit from children’s literary favourite The Gruffalo, who was on hand to give out anniversary goody bags, and a staff bake sale.

Claire Walters, hearing aid audiologist at Specsavers Hearing Centre Truro, says: ‘Our anniversary celebration was a roaring success and we’re pleased to have raised a significant sum of money for a worthy local cause. Celebrating with the community was also a fitting way to mark the store’s long service and reward our loyal customers and staff.’

Graham Dunn, Specsavers Truro store director, adds: ‘We’re grateful to the mayor and all our customers for their support. I would also like to extend my thanks to our staff for all their hard work and commitment. Here’s to the next 25 years!’
