Members of staff at Specsavers in Trowbridge raised more than £600 for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March).
The team invited customers and passers-by to indulge in a range of delicious home-made cakes in exchange for a charitable donation, as well as join them in accessorising their red noses with Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day specs.
Store director Colin Gault said: ‘Comic Relief is a brilliant charity and one that we’re always keen to support in store. The cake sale was a big success and the comedy specs proved to be very popular; we’re delighted to have raised as much as we did.’
Staff also got involved in the fundraising fun by ditching their usual uniforms in favour of red outfits and official Red Nose Day t-shirts to encourage donations.
Customers were also encouraged to take part in this year’s Comic Relief theme with the Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day specs by taking a waving selfie and sharing it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.
Colin added: ‘I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who visited us in store in the run up to the big day and on Red Nose Day itself to show their support for Comic Relief – it was a memorable day for us all.’
Specsavers in Trowbridge joined other stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
