Specsavers in Treorchy has opened its doors to members of the community.

Located at 122 Bute Street, optometrist Geraint Jones, who grew up in Treorchy, alongside two other directors, Paul Molton and Robert Evans, have opened a Specsavers store in the town.

Director’s home town

‘I am so excited to have launched Specsavers in Treorchy this year,’ said Mr Jones, who started his 12-year career with Specsavers as a Saturday boy at the Caerphilly store and returns to Treorchy after 10 years.

‘This is my home town. I grew up here, I went to the local comprehensive school, so to be able to come back and set up a business is certainly a significant career milestone for me.’

Mr Jones and his colleagues, who also co-own Specsavers in Caerphilly and Pontypridd, decided to open the store after recognising that many patients at their popular Pontypridd opticians were travelling from Treorchy to access services.

The trio have invested £50,000 in state-of-the-art eyecare technology for the business, which will also offer audiology services. The store has two testing rooms, as well as a soundproof room for audiology patients. Keen to show its support for the local community, Specsavers has already agreed to sponsor Treorchy RFC.

Existing customers may also recognise the new store manager, Emma Davies, who moves from the Pontypridd opticians after 22 years to fill one of four new jobs that the newly-opened opticians has created.

Fast, efficient and affordable service

‘We’re a community-focused business that prides itself on being able to offer our customers a fast, efficient and affordable service, with the highest professional standards,’ Mr Jones said.

‘Our Pontypridd store is running at full capacity, so we’re delighted to be in a position where we can offer our Treorchy-based customers a high-quality service from the heart of their local community, six days a week.’
