Youngsters in Towcester helped to raise £120 for charity by taking part in a treasure hunt organised by Specsavers.
The team hid 34 rocks which were painted in a specs-theme by audiology director, Sam Mason. Once found, each rock was returned to the store and £5 was donated to victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, before being re-hidden. A golden ‘hearing’ rock was amongst the collection and the lucky finder, Gary Whaley, received a pair of top of the range hearing aids.
‘The local community really got involved and we were delighted with the response to our Love on the Rocks treasure hunt,’ says Sam. ‘The craze first hit Towcester at the beginning of the year and we thought it would be a good idea to incorporate it with some fundraising activity, as well as marking the opening of the new store.’
‘We’ve been so well received by locals since the store opened in the spring,’ says store director, Daljit Purewal. ‘We’d like to say thank you to everyone that took part and helped us raise money for the Grenfell Tower victims.’
