Specsavers in Torquay has seen off nationwide competition to take home the ‘Multiple Practice of the Year’ title in the prestigious Optician Awards 2016.
The award came following an award-winning 30th year in business which saw our first store-trained dispensing optician graduate, the introduction of innovative new technology, extensive staff training, an extension of store trading hours (leading the way in the South West) and three finalists in the national Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards.
Simon Simmonds, store director, said: ‘This is the first year in Torquay's 30-year history that we have been nominated for such a prestigious industry award and to have won it is a huge achievement. I’m very proud of all the staff here in Torquay!
‘We had a great celebration at the awards evening and with any luck we’ll see even more success in the Specsavers Awards for Excellence later this year.’
The award winning year came after tragedy struck at the end of 2014, when the long-standing store director Joy Filon passed away. Despite the loss, the team pulled together and continued to champion the store’s ethos of being ‘the best we can be’.
The store’s success at the Optician Awards 2016 and impressive business growth in 2015 is testament to the team’s dedication to exceptional customer service.
The team also went above and beyond to support a range of charitable initiatives, raising funds for Torquay’s Rowcroft Hospice and Cancer Research UK during the course of the year.
