This is an exciting time for Specsavers Opticians and Audiologists in Tiverton, who are joining stores across the country in a new partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to transform eye health and reduce preventable sight loss.

Children’s eye tests

To mark the partnership a State of the Nation: Eye Health 2016 report was commissioned by RNIB and supported by Specsavers. The report revealed that a fifth of children aged of 3-16 in the South West have never had an eye test.

Store director, Emma Denham, explained why this awareness campaign is so important for the area: ‘Children in the South West could be missing out on sight-saving services because parents think that their children are too young for an eye examination. But eye problems are often much easier to treat if detected while a child's vision is still developing.’

Ongoing fundraising

The store’s latest initiative is in addition to their ongoing fundraising campaign for Cancer Research UK., which has raised more than £2,000 in memory of their colleague Sophie Simmonds.
