Westcountry broadcaster and true Devon maid, Judy Spiers, joined staff from Specsavers Tiverton at a coffee morning to raise funds for Devon Hospiscare, in memory of a much loved colleague.
Judi was joined by legendary birthday card reading bunny rabbit Gus Hunneybun for the coffee morning, which formed part of the month long Hospiscare Coffee Morning fundraising campaign.
Continued support for Hospiscare
Store ophthalmic director, Scott McGowan says: ‘It was a great pleasure to welcome Judi and Gus to the Tiverton Specsavers store. We sadly lost one of our colleagues to cancer and Hospiscare is a cause very close to our hearts.
‘In the past few years the team in Tiverton, led by Elaine Sirdefield, raised more than £5,000 for cancer research. We are delighted to now raise funds to help Hospiscare continue their work and provide much needed care and support to more families.’
Hospiscare is an adult hospice charity that provides care for any type of terminal illness for people who live in Exeter, Mid or East Devon.
Rebecca Botfield from Hospiscare said: ‘Thank you to Specsavers Tiverton for hosting a coffee morning, it’s only with this support that we can continue to care for the 2,000 people that come to us every year.
‘The staff in Tiverton Specsavers were very welcoming and the cakes were delicious. Gus even found a great new pair of specs.’
