Pupils from Castle and Marlwood Schools are benefitting from a partnership with Specsavers Thornbury.
The store is participating in Castle & Marwood’s Premium Partner scheme which aims to help bridge the gap between education and employment. The programme allows students to work closely with the business community and understand the challenges of the business world more confidently upon leaving school.
As part of the scheme, store director and optometrist, Khairul Rahman, was involved in a presentation given by the school’s headmaster, Peter Smart, to 40 students and parents on Thursday 14 May at The Park Hotel, Thornbury. As well as discussing how to get into a career in optics, Khairul talked about the apprenticeship opportunities available at the store.
Khairul said: ‘Getting involved with Thornbury’s younger generation is a great way of teaching them about the world of work and their possible futures. I’ve already helped a few students with their Business Studies coursework and I’m looking forward to helping more students in the future.’
