The winner of a ‘guess the name of the bear’ competition run by Specsavers Tewkesbury has been revealed.
Three-year-old Abigail Griffiths, who lives in Evesham, chose the name Izzy for the cuddly creature and has been presented with the bear as her prize.
The competition helped to raise money for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA), the store’s nominated charity for the first half of 2018. The store has picked this particular charity as 27-year-old store supervisor, Carly Merriman underwent surgery for a cleft lip as a child.
‘We had lots of entries into the competition so a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise money for CLAPA,’ said Carly. ‘This was our first fundraising activity so it’s great to get things off to a good start. Next up will be a design an Easter egg competition so keep your eyes peeled in store for that.’
Since 1979, CLAPA has been the only national charity dedicated to all those with and affected by cleft lip and/or palate in the UK.
The charity reaches out to families from the moment of diagnosis and helps them through any difficulties they have before and after the birth of their child by providing a specialist feeding service, as well as targeted information and a national network of trained volunteers providing one-to-one emotional support and local events and meet-ups.
