Members of staff from Specsavers in Telford attended the Newport Carnival and encouraged local residents to take advantage of the expert eye health advice on offer.
Staff were on hand throughout the day speaking to carnival-goers about the importance of regular sight tests, the services offered at Specsavers in Telford and offering specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) free of charge.
The carnival parade saw more than 25 local businesses and organisations represented on colourful floats including several local schools, nurseries, clubs. Others joined in with stalls and putting on window displays.
'Keen to raise awareness of regular sight tests'
Contact lens manager, Chrissy Higgins, said: ‘We’re really keen to raise awareness of the importance of regular sight tests – and to make people aware that they are a vital eye health examination as well as a vision assessment.
‘It was also great to speak to locals while the sun was shining at the carnival as many didn’t realise the risks of not wearing correct sunglasses. Harmful rays in sunlight can increase the risk of cataracts and Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).’
