A local Scouts group has been treated to a private tour of a Specsavers in Telford recently to learn more about eyes and ears.

Eye-opening tour

Youngsters from the Lawley Cub Scouts group visit the store, where they were shown around the store’s state-of-the-art facilities. The tour included the audiology room and an optical consultation room, before watching technicians at work in the spectacle lab.

Members of staff hosted a show and tell session with hearing aids and contact lenses, and spoke to the children about how each were fitted for customers. The troop were also able to watch an optical scan during their visit.

Optometrist and store director Vinay Najran said: ‘It’s always a delight to show children around our store. We want local youngsters to take an interest in what we do and have an enjoyable experience each time they visit.’

The Scouts were treated to refreshments, goody bags and a high-visibility vest each at the end of their visit.

Inviting visits

Contact lens specialist and fellow store director Rizwan Makda added: ‘We were delighted to receive some colourful thank you cards from the Scouts, and hope they took a lot away from the tour. Visits like these are a great opportunity to give back to our local community, and we’d like to invite other local groups and clubs to contact us in store for a guided tour of our facilities.’
