Team members from Telford attended another successful See and Hear exhibition, organised by Shropshire Council, to express the importance of eye health.
As members of the local optical council, the Telford store is able to support the framework for all primary eye care within Shropshire. This sees responsibility of informing local residents of the importance of regular eye examinations in maintaining eye health.
As part of the annual exhibition in Shrewsbury, the Specsavers team carried out vision screening, as well as visual acuity checks, colour vision tests and other key vision screeners for the elderly.
For those suspected of having conditions such as macula degeneration or diabetes, an optical coherence tomography (OCT) helped capture three dimensional images of biological tissue and fundus photographs, which show the interior surface of the eye, were taken. Staff also distributed college of optometrist advice leaflets for those with conditions including cataract, AMD or Glaucoma.
‘The team who attended the exhibition had a really great day informing people of the importance of eye care,’ said Rizwaan Makda, store director.
Store director Vinay Najran exclaimed, ‘We’re really looking forward to being there again next year.’
