Thanks to the persistence of Specsavers in Telford, a local man can continue the pursuit of his dream job as a senior train conductor, after previously being told he wouldn’t be able to due to his eyesight.
Dina Ivanova, an optometrist from Specsavers in the Telford Shopping Centre, has been presented with a Customer First award for her dedication to customers and optics as a whole, following her efforts with the Telford local.
Not only did Dina complete a full eye examination and provide a thorough yet clear explanation, she spent hours of her own time correcting her customer’s prescription. Temporary specs were made and Dina had him wear them for ten minutes to asses whether there were any side effects. Following another test, his prescription was provided which has allowed him to pass a medical assessment and continue his journey to become a train conductor.
A word from the store director
‘Dina is a credit to the team here at Specsavers in Telford,’ said store director, Vinay Najran. ‘She always goes above and beyond to accommodate everyone and never gives up. We’re extremely proud of our staff and the feedback we receive highlights their commitment to our local community.’
Further to this, Dina has achieved a Professional Certificate in Medical Retina, developing her enhanced optical services (EOS). This training has extended her optical knowledge so that she can manage more customers with complex eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
