The team at Specsavers in Telford has put fundraising in the frame in the run up to Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March) and is inviting local residents to get involved.
Visitors to the store on Friday 17 March will be able to take part in a range of fundraising activities, including a bake-off contest, colouring competition and sponsored slime, where customers and passers-by will be invited to make a donation and vote to see members of staff slimed in store.
The team is also encouraging customers to take part in this year’s Comic Relief theme, #giveusawave, on social media by wearing the Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses. The glasses, available in store now, come in children’s and adult sizes and are just £2, with all the money donated to Comic Relief.
Store director Rizwaan Makda said: ‘Comic Relief is a fantastic cause and one that we’re always keen to raise money for in the store. We’ve got a lot planned and are all looking forward to getting our fundraising off to a great start on Friday.’
Telford team members will also be swapping their usual uniforms in favour of silly outfits on the day, with customer service advisor Amy Jones going one step further by dying her hair bright red to encourage more donations to the charity.
Every penny counts
‘We want to encourage everyone, young and old, to visit us in store this Friday 17 March to join in the fun. Every penny we make will be going to Comic Relief to help continue its brilliant work,’ Rizwaan added.
Specsavers in Telford has joined other stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
