The British Youth Citizen Awards recognise children aged under who have demonstrated great kindness, bravery or compassion in their local community.

Specsavers founder, Dame Mary Perkins, is patron of the awards, which started in 2016 and is calling for every town to nominate at least one deserving young person.

Tavistock store director, Sarah Routly, commented on the awards: ‘It’s so inspiring to hear the incredible stories and achievements of the young people nominated for the British Citizen Youth Awards, and we’re extremely proud to support such a worthy cause.’

How to enter

If you know a young person in Tavistock who fits this description and will be under the age of 16 in October 2017 simply email with BCYA in the subject line. The deadline for all entries is Wednesday 9 August 2017.

2016 south west winners

In 2016, sisters Esme, aged seven and Bronte, aged four represented the south west at the awards presentation in the Palace of Westminster with Specsavers founder and awards Patron, Dame Mary Perkins.

The sisters were awarded for their fundraising efforts in support of their parent’s charity, the Mariposa Trust, a baby loss charity started in 2012.
