The Taunton store raised more than £160 during National Eye Health Week in support of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
Staff carried out repairs, adjustments and MOTs on glasses and hearing aids in return for donations, as well as giving £1 from every eye test. Trainee dispensing optician Kirsty Johnston organised a bake sale for customers while in-house superstar baker Katie Littlejohn provided the cakes.
Transforming Eye Health
The fundraising initiative, which took place at the end of last month, is part of a continuing partnership between Specsavers and RNIB aimed at transforming the nation’s eye health by raising awareness of the vital importance of regular sight tests.
‘It’s shocking to think that half of all sight loss cases are preventable – and a simple eye test can help our customers ensure that they are taking the right precautions,’ said store director Emma Denham.
