Staff at Taunton have raised over £2,000 as part of their ongoing fundraising initiative in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The Specsavers Taunton team joined members of staff from the Tiverton store on a 9km walk around Wellington Monument. Both stores have pledged to raise money for Cancer Research throughout the year and team members from Taunton also recently took part in the Bristol 10k.
The Specsavers team walked in memory of Sophie Simmons, who worked at the Tiverton store and sadly passed away last year at the age of 38 following a brave fight against cancer.
Emma Denham, store director, said: ‘We’ve received some incredible support from the community including generous donations from the mothers at Wellington School and Specsavers founders Doug and Mary Perkins themselves. We’d like to thank everyone that has supported us so far.’
Cancer Research UK is a research and awareness charity for cancer in the UK. It aims to reduce the number of deaths from cancer by raising funding for and conducting research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
