Tamworth's Specsavers team joined opticians from all over the UK and Ireland to celebrate great team achievements at the Awards for Excellence at the Birmingham ICC on Saturday night (6 December).
More than 1,000 store directors and support team staff packed the ICC for the venue for the biennial awards, that recognises excellence in customer service.
Tamworth was shortlisted in the Excellence in Overall Performance for a Medium store. This category was judged by Graham Dunster, a director of retail advancement.
More like a family than work colleagues
On the night he said: 'The four shortlisted stores I visited all demonstrated operational excellence through unbelievably engaged teams who behaved more like a family than work colleagues.
The team from Tamworth Specsavers opticians were delighted and honoured to be shortlisted in the Excellence in Overall Performance category for a Medium-sized store. Graham added 'They had it all:
- teamship rules,
- great professional development,
- keen apprentices,
- fantastic in store training,
- work in the community
- and a huge commitment to delighting their customers.

Staff from every shortlisted store attended the ceremony, which also featured a black-tie dinner and entertainment.
Comedian Bradley Walsh compered the evening, which also featured performances by dance troupe Mini Moves and comedy act The Noise Next Door.
Ravinder Bahia, optometrist and store director said: ‘It feels incredible to be shortlisted out of 800 stores and it's testament to the team for all their hardwork and dedication to the highest levels of customer service. ’
