Tamworth Specsavers raised more than £150 for the Poppy Fields charity at the We Love Tamworth event.
Organised by the Tamworth Lions Club, the event marks a year since Specsavers at 19 The Ankerside Centre, Tamworth, announced that the Poppy Fields charity was their chosen charity to support.
On Saturday 22 August, staff manned a stall at the popular carnival, handing out bottles of water, earplugs and balloons filled with vouchers to use in store, in return for donations to the charity. The team were also joined by a Specsavers Giant Ear which helped raise awareness of the hearing services available in store.
Lisa Large, store director, says: ‘The event was a great success and we’re so pleased to add the £150 to our fantastic overall total of £1,200 for Poppy Fields. We’d like to thank visitors who donated on the day, and we look forward to being at the festival again next year!’
About Poppy Fields
In April 2004, the Poppy Fields charity was set up after young Poppy Guilder from Tamworth was diagnosed with a brain tumour and cared for in the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Money raised will be used to purchase neurosurgical equipment and research into childhood brain tumours.
About the We Love Tamworth event
The We Love Tamworth event has been running for three years in the castle grounds and sees entertainment including street performers, face painters, saxons, bandstand concerts, fairground rides, community stalls and much more.
