Specsavers in Tamworth is urging local youngsters to get involved with Red Nose Day activities in the run up to the big day on Friday 24 March.
The team is inviting children up to the age of 12 to collect a colouring sheet and showcase their artistic skills by designing their own funky specs, with an art set awarded to the winner.
Customers are also being encouraged to take part in this year’s Comic Relief theme, ‘give us a wave’, by wearing Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses, available in store now costing £2.
‘We want to encourage all our customers, young and old, to get involved with Red Nose Day,’ said store director Lisa Large. ‘Comic Relief is a brilliant cause and one that we’re always delighted to support. We’ve always received a positive response from our local community for charity initiatives in the past, so I’m sure that this event will be no different.’
Staff will also be taking part in their own competition to boost the store’s fundraising total, competing to design their own silly specs and swapping their usual uniforms for crazy trousers and official Red Nose Day t-shirts.
Lisa added: ‘We will all be dressed up and sporting the Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses on the day with the aim of raising as much money as possible. All of our competition entries will be displayed in-store in the coming weeks to make our store even more colourful, so we’re looking forward to seeing what our budding young artists can come up with!’
Specsavers in Tamworth has joined other stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
