Specsavers staff in Talbot Green have raised funds to show their support for the hundreds of people living with sight loss in the local community this Guide Dogs Week (3-11 October).
Host of activities
The charity’s annual awareness and fundraising week took the theme of ‘Let’s Glow’, and saw staff at Specsavers in Talbot Green donning neon outfits and painting bright colours on their faces.
Throughout the week, staff also held a cake sale, sold official Guide Dog badges and encouraged customers to donate £1 per repair made to glasses at the store.
‘A proud supporter’
Hannah Davies, store director of Specsavers in Talbot Green, said: ‘Specsavers has been a proud supporter of Guide Dogs for more than 10 years. Thanks to the generosity of our customers we have raised a nationwide total of £270,000 in the past four years, which has funded 25 guide dog puppies.
‘We’d like to thank all our customers for their donations again this year, we’re delighted to have got involved and raised money for such a fantastic cause.’
Lisa Bell, Guide Dogs’ corporate partnerships officer, said: ‘Every hour another person in the UK loses their sight, and the impact is life changing. The Guide Dogs charity is here to make sure that when someone loses their vision they don’t have to lose their freedom as well.’
