Eighteen bags of children’s toys, games, clothes and shoes have been collected by a Talbot Green opticians for the Welsh children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
Specsavers collected the stock, which included clothes for adults, from members of staff. According to Tŷ Hafan, every bag of donated items to its retail stores is worth approximately £30, meaning that the donation could see around £540 of sales generated.
Generosity of staff
Hannah Davies, director at Specsavers in Talbot Green, says: ‘Thanks to the generosity of our staff, we have collected dozens of items that will help contribute to funding Tŷ Hafan’s care and support services for children and families in Wales.
‘As a retailer, we understand just how important it is to have desirable stock for customers, so it was a pleasure to select items to donate that we felt other people would want to buy from their local Tŷ Hafan shop.’
Care and vital support
The Talbot Green store, along with 36 other Specsavers stores in south and mid Wales, has been fundraising for Tŷ Hafan since September last year. Tŷ Hafan cares for life-limited children and young people, and provides vital support to their families, both within the hospice and through its community outreach programme.
Since 1999, it has supported 689 children across Wales, 263 of which are currently under its care.
