Swindon audiology centre welcomed a giant walking ear to raise awareness in the local community about caring for your ears.
The Specsavers team walked the streets of Swindon in their branded t-shirts handing out leaflets alongside the Big Ear. They also invited customers and passers-by to use a clever piece of technology, called an AudioPad, which carries out a hearing test using a tablet and headphones.
Staff talked to the community about the importance of regular hearing checks and a representative from leading hearing aid manufacturer, Sivantos, showed live demonstrations.
A word from the audiology director
‘This was a fun way to raise awareness about the importance of regular hearing checks,’ said Swindon Specsavers audiology director, Kane Akers. ‘We saw lots of friendly faces during the day and raised awareness in the town, which made it even more enjoyable.
‘Hearing loss can affect every aspect of a person’s life and can often be quite isolating. While most people know that it’s important to get their eyes examined regularly as part of a full health check, fewer people realise the importance of a simple hearing check.’
