A Swansea opticians has raised more than just cake mixture, by hosting a bake sale for cancer support charity, Macmillan.
Culinary skills put to the test
Staff members at the Kingsway store held a dress up day and put their culinary skills to the test to win the coveted titles of ‘best dressed’ and ‘best baker’.
Customers at the store were encouraged to make a small donation to the collection box for Macmillan, which raised £108 for the charity.
Shauna Evans, frame consultant at the store, won the judges over in her fancy dress mermaid costume and Elyse Gwynn, dispensing assistant, won ‘best baker’ thanks to her eyeball cake pops.
A generous community
Tracy Hill, manager of the Specsavers store on the Kingsway, said: ‘The Swansea community were as generous as ever with their donations and we’re lucky to have such an enthusiastic team, who made a real effort with their costumes and baking.
‘The staff really rose to the occasion and provided a fun-filled atmosphere for all of the customers, while raising money for a great cause.’
