Two staff members from Specsavers in Swansea completed the Admiral Swansea Bay 10K race, raising more than £260 for Velindre Cancer Centre.
Store optician, Carys Bowden, and clinical receptionist, Jamie Roberts, took part in the 10k run, with staff from the Swansea store raising funds throughout the week of the event. Store staff offered customers the opportunity to win back the cost of their frames, in exchange of donating £1 to the fundraising cause.
Store director, Steve Jones, said: ‘We are very proud of both Carys and Jamie for successfully completing the race, and raising an impressive £264 for the Velindre Cancer Centre. For the last two years, Specsavers has named Velindre its national Charity of the Year and we’re always keen to show our support for such a special charity as often as we can.
‘On behalf of the team here, I would like to thank everyone who donated – the support for the girls was fantastic and certainly made the challenging run worthwhile!’
The store would also like to congratulate Emma Lloyd, who was the winner of the competition and is now enjoying her free pair of specs.
