Sacrificing his hair for a good cause, an optical assistant from Sutton-on-Ashfield has a clean-cut approach to raising some cash for Comic Relief.

Jay Kisney, from Specsavers at Idlewells Shopping Centre, chose to brave the shave on Red Nose Day.

Small price to pay

‘It was quite a nervous suggestion, but then the whole team got behind it,’ said Jay. ‘Losing my hair is a small price to pay, when as little as £2 can make a huge difference to those in need.’

‘We are really proud of Jay for putting himself forward in this way,’ said store director Nigel Davidson.

‘As a team, we like to see what we can do to fundraise for causes that we feel strongly about, and Comic relief certainly is one of them.’

The team has also been busy selling the official red Comic Relief glasses. Complete with waving arms on either side, customers are encouraged to post pictures of themselves wearing the novelty glasses on social media with #GiveUsAWave. All proceeds will be going to the charity.
