Specsavers in Sutton-in-Ashfield opticians welcomed some furry friends into the store to raise awareness and funds for the charity Guide Dogs UK.
Visitors to the store in Idlewells Shopping Centre were greeted on the morning of Monday 6 November by owner Kay and dog Frankie, and in the afternoon by handler Chelsea with working guide dog Pebbles and Chrisi with retired guide dog, Echo.
Staff were on hand to encourage customers to meet the guide dogs and owners, and to take donations for the charity.
A word from the store director
‘We’re very grateful to the owners for giving up their time to come into store and talk to customers about the fantastic work that the charity does,’ said store director, Nigel Davidson.
‘The dogs really delighted customers and passers-by, and it was invaluable to hear their experiences first hand.
‘Often the impact of sight loss is underestimated, but it is something that affects day-to-day life for many people. We wanted to raise awareness for the amazing work that the charity does to support those with sight loss, but also to make people realise that something as simple as a sight test can help to reduce the chances of blindness.’
