On Saturday 23 May, Sutton in Ashfield Specsavers welcomed representatives from the MS Society into store and raised £80 for the cause.
Customers entered a raffle with the chance to win a hamper of summer holiday essentials including a passport holder, baggage scales and shower essentials. Shoppers could pick up a raffle ticket in return for a small donation to MS Society. The winner Mrs Bailey received her hamper from Optical Assistant Ryan Smith(as seen in the image).
Friends of the Earth
This event follows previous fundraising that the store organised for Friends of the Earth. The team raised £30 for the cause during Green Office Week (20-24 April) with a Bring & Buy sale.
Helping victims of Nepal
Also, after the recent earthquake in Nepal, the store has also been asking customers to make donations to the British Red Cross. So far, customers have generously donated more than £100 to support the charity’s work to help those affected in Nepal.
‘We’re incredibly proud to be supporting these charities throughout 2015,’ said Nigel Davidson, store director at Specsavers Sutton in Ashfield. ‘Organisations such as the MS Society and Friends of the Earth do some excellent work here in Sutton and across the UK, so we’ll do our best to support them.
‘When we heard about the earthquake which recently struck Nepal, we also decided to lend our support to the British Red Cross by placing a collection bucket in store,’ continued Nigel. ‘Many people in the UK have been affected in some way by the disaster.’
