A local opticians celebrated its store renovation, which brings the largest Specsavers store in the UK and the latest in optical technology to customers in Sutton-in-Ashfield, with a grand opening.
Specsavers co-founder, Dame Mary Perkins, attended the grand opening on Saturday to cut the ribbon and share a glass of bubbly with staff and guests. In addition, Specsavers’ iconic Zumba advert dancer, Hayley-Jo, entertained onlookers by performing her Zumba routine and handing out goody bags in front of the store.
Guests were invited on a tour of the new site, which saw work begin in March this year, and now includes a revolutionary pre-testing area, a dedicated DVLA and visual fields room as well as a further five consulting rooms.
The store provides Enhanced Optical Services (EOS) on behalf of the NHS, helping to provide faster, more easily accessible primary care for patients, while reducing the burden on GPs and hospitals. The qualified and experienced staff will now have greater capacity to help customers with minor eye conditions, including red or watering eye and dry or sticky eye.
The non-retail areas of the business have also been relocated into the basement, formerly the old Idlewells car park, which consists of the lab and a call centre, as well as a large training room. The store also now has its own academy, emphasising the importance of staff training in the practice.

The new layout includes the latest Specsavers design concept, iharmony, which has involved significant investment in technology, including tablets, to ensure customers have the best possible experience in store.
