Specsavers in Sutton-in-Ashfield has taken delivery of the latest robotic equipment in their optical laboratory.
The Nidek machine is one the the most technologically advanced industrial lens edgers for high-volume production labs. This technology enables glasses lenses to be shaped and sized correctly to fit the left and right of any of the 1,000 plus glasses frames that Specsavers stock.
Nigel Davidson, store director said ‘This is a major advance for the practice and is by far the biggest investment that the store has ever made. We have always tried to purchase the best equipment possible in order to benefit our patients and this high speed robotic system fits the bill perfectly’
Deep Singh, of Birmingham Optical, the UK distributor of the machines, commented ‘We are delighted to be supplying this technology to a Specsavers optician's store that was shortlisted as Technology Practice of the Year in 2013 and was the overall Multiple Practice of the Year* too.'
''This builds on previous investment by the practice in optical equipment. I am sure that the Sutton-in-Ashfield store will notice tangible improvements in the service they offer their customers.'
The new system, the NIDEK ICE-1000 Intelligent Blocker, SE-9090 Supra Edger with RHU-1000 RoboticHandling Unit will improve the quality, efficiency and speed of the lab operation, that handles lenses in store, for customers.
