Staff at Specsavers in Surbiton took on the Tough Mudder challenge in aid of UK military charity, Help for Heroes.

Extreme challenge

Three members of staff from the Surbiton Parade store donated over £1,500 through race fees and donations for their participation in the twelve mile, hard-core obstacle course.

Obstacles, electric fences and icy tunnels

The endurance course's obsatcles are said to play on common fears, such as fire, ice, electricity and heights.

Paul Ballah, store director said: ‘Many of us took part in Tough Mudder last year so we knew what to expect. The challenge definitely lived up to its name, that’s for sure!

‘The team did amazingly well and stuck together through the gruelling course of obstacles, electric fences and underwater tunnels. Thank you to all the customers, family and friends who generously sponsored our challenge.’

Help for Heroes

The team chose to support Help for Heroes - which is a UK military charity that focuses on providing support, from mental wellbeing to education, employment and financial advice for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
