The team at Specsavers in Stroud will be getting out their barbecue tongs and fancy dress to raise money for Blind Veterans UK to mark Armed Forces Week (20-26 June).
Army themed fundraising barbecue
On Saturday 25 June staff at 22 Kings Street will be holding a barbecue outside the store and selling burgers to customers, with all money raised going to Blind Veterans UK. Customers can have some fun dressing up in the army-related props and having their picture taken, to show their support on social media. Throughout Armed Forces Week, the team will also be donating £1 from every sight test to the charity.
A word from the store director
‘It’s so important that we support our armed forces and Blind Veterans UK is just one of the charities that can help,’ said store director Rizwan Choonara. ‘Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed for the weather and looking forward to a day of food and fundraising, so please do come along and show your support!’
Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
