A feast of fundraising took place at an opticians in Street to help those most in need in the local community during the festive season, helping to raise £150.
A time for giving
From Monday 12 to Sunday 18 December, Specsavers on the High Street donated £1 from every sight test carried out. During the same week the team also paid for the privilege of wearing Christmas jumpers and sold homemade cakes.
The money was donated to the Glastonbury Community Christmas Lunch to help them put on a festive spread on Christmas Day. This ensured that even the most vulnerable were able to enjoy a hot meal and some company.
‘We’re delighted to have been able to help those who would otherwise perhaps spend Christmas Day on their own,’ said store director Colin Shearer.
‘Christmas is a time for giving and what better way to do this than by helping those in the community who need it most.
'The team all enjoyed wearing their festive knits, especially knowing the money was going to help people who need it the most.’
