Linay Khambhaita, store director at Specsavers on the Strand, has a special appeal for all businesses in the area.
Seeking old frames
Linay reckons there are probably a fair few pairs of old, broken or unwanted glasses lurking in some office desks and would like to request that these are donated to the store to help charity - Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
Supporting Vision Aid Overseas' great work
Linay says: 'These unwanted frames are recycled by Vision Aid Overseas to help them raise the required funds to support their mission in developing countries. This includes funding the opening of vision centres in isolated provinces and training optometrists so they are able to give the necessary care to those in need.
'We are very fortunate to have access to quality eye health services in this country, but sadly, this isn't available to all in the developing world. Knowing that your old frames help to raise the required funding needed by Vision Aid Overseas to complete their great work is a very worthy cause to support.'
So why not give your desk a clear out and see if you have any to donate. The Strand store has a collection point in store for Vision Aid Overseas.
