Strabane Specsavers is partnering with the North West Cricket Union to support a series of Junior League programmes in 2018 and 2019 for Under 11, 13 and Under 15 participation levels.

The youth leagues programmes engage with over 450 boys and girls, playing cricket at 23 clubs based at various club locations, from Burndennett, Donemana, Fox Lodge and Bready to Strabane and Sion Mills.

Kids Blitz Days

An integral part of the partnership is a series of Kids Blitz Days. Designed for all the family to get together for an energetic and fun packed day, Blitz Days will be held in Strabane, Derry and Coleraine alongside North West Warriors T20 home matches.

Emma Finn, store director at Strabane Specsavers said: ‘We’re pleased to be involved with cricket youth programmes in the North West region. Specsavers has an ongoing association with county cricket and youth programmes across the water and our local cricket development squads provided an excellent opportunity to extend that support to cricket locally.’

Enhancing and extending youth offer

Peter McCartney, general manager at North West Cricket Union said: ‘Specsavers backing will help us enhance and extend our youth programme offer in the North West area and encourage more young people to take up cricket and more parents and extended family members to assist us as volunteers.’
