Stowmarket residents supported the charitable efforts of Specsavers who helped raise vital funds for families of children with rare chromosome disorders.
Specsavers Stowmarket is held a month-long fundraiser for local charity, Unique.
Charity fun month
Staff from the store held a children’s colouring competition, a guess the number of sweets in the jar and sold official Unique trolley coins, charity wrist bands and pin badges, in exchange for donations. On every Monday and Saturday throughout the fundraising month, staff from the store dressed up from head-to-toe in denim and each Wednesday came to work dressed in superhero inspired costumes.
For every eye test carried out, the store donated £1 to the cause. Specsavers staff also offered specs MOTs – cleaning, adjustments and minor repairs – in return for donations.
Store director, Simon Hill says: ‘We are really happy to have supported Unique and feel honoured to help raise funds for the charity.’
As part of its service, Unique operates telephone and email support helplines for new and existing families to help children with specific rare chromosome disorders. Families affected by any rare chromosome disorders can often come together locally for general support and friendship.
