Hopes for a match made in heaven are high as Shovel Athletic enjoy a sponsorship deal with Specsavers Stourbridge.

As the Stourbridge store takes up the mantel of sponsor, the Kidderminster & District Football League side are sporting green and white this season to match the optician’s colours.

The store on 71 High Street has also put its best foot forward with four members of the team playing for the club. Dispensing optician and store manager, Dan Stimpson, diabetic screener, Ben Fox and optical assistants, Sean Kavanagh and Nathan Westwood are all part of the Sunday division one side.

A word from the store director

Store director, Jason Bridgewater, said: ‘Sponsoring a local side seemed like a great way to raise awareness of our sport vision services and with members of our own team on the side, Shovel Athletic was a natural choice.

Ideal for racquet sports

‘If you exercise or play sports regularly, you could notice quite a difference wearing contact lenses rather than glasses. Specsavers can offer expert advice, fitting and free trials for any specs wearers wanting to try contact lenses. We also have a range of prescription goggles for swimming and protective eyewear - ideal for racquet sports.’
