The charitable team at Stockport have decided to celebrate their birthdays in a very selfless way, by donating £600 to local hospice Walthew House.

Charitable ideas

The team love a reason to celebrate, especially when it’s a birthday party. In previous years, the team have gifted flowers to the lucky birthday boy or girl but after seeing the amazing work of staff at Walthew House, this philanthropic store came up with an amazing idea.

They instead saved their gift money and donated the total to the centre who tirelessly work to provide services for people with a sight or hearing loss.

The opticians hope their donation spreads birthday cheer and helps the local community.

The importance of giving back

Deborah Morley, store director, said: 'I am so proud of my team at Specsavers Stockport for their continued commitment to supporting the local community, they are very kind-hearted!'

'We believe it is so important to give back to the community that has supported our store for over 25 year.  And, after hearing about the work of Walthew house we felt this was a way we could make a real difference.'
