Staff in Specsavers St Austell got in the fundraising spirit for this year’s Comic Relief.

Political support

MP, Steve Double, wife Anne and son Josh, who works at the store, all came together for selfies in the comedy specs on a specially created Instagram frame, joining a giant Mexican wave on social media.

Staff also sported the Red Nose Day creations accessorised with waving hands to promote them in store.

Pledge exceeded

Thanks to everyone’s support and the kind generosity of customers more than 300 pairs of the specs were sold!

Nationwide Specsavers beat their pledge of £250,000, raising a massive £475,000!

St Austell store director, Eric Barkhuysen, said: ‘Comic Relief is a great cause and I’d like to thank all our customers for their support. Also Josh and all the staff for their very enthusiastic fundraising efforts!’

A great cause

Specsavers fundraising for Comic Relief will help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.

Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
