Specsavers in St Annes received donations of 500 old and unused glasses for a charity campaign to give people in Africa the opportunity to better their sight.
Vision Aid Overseas
Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) has helped improve developing countries sight for over 30 years. The mission of the charity is to provide those living in poverty the chance to have affordable glasses and eye care.
The glasses are collected, recycled and the money raised then goes towards generating vital optician services for those living in poverty. Shoppers and staff donated a record-number of glasses throughout 2017.
A word from the store director
Edwin Shields, store director at St Annes, said: ‘Last year’s campaign was successful because of generous customers and staff. All donations are so important.
‘In the UK we have access to eye care whenever we need, but others in poorer countries aren’t as fortunate. It’s important that we continue to donate towards Vision Aid Overseas so we can change people’s lives for the better.’
