Specsavers Stanmore are urging customers to bring in their used glasses for charity.
The store, in Church Road, is collecting the glasses for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
Global eye health charity
Vision Aid Overseas is a global eye health charity which recycles old glasses to raise much-needed funds to improve vision care in the developing world.
According to the charity, 80% of all visual impairment can be treated or cured.
Over 1.1billion people worldwide cannot see properly simply because they need a pair of glasses.
A word from the store director
Rakesh Kapoor, store director in Stanmore, said: ‘It is likely that most people who wear glasses have an old pair gathering dust at home.
'Please bring them in to us, as they really do make a big difference to people in the developing world.
‘One customer recently brought us more than 40 pairs. So why not join them and bring yours into the store today.’
