Specsavers St Albans opticians have helped pupils stay safe at night by donating high-visibility vests to local Brownies and Rainbows clubs.
The store staff gave the vests to the 9th St Albans Abbey Rainbows and the 29th St Albans Abbey Brownies clubs to promote safety at night in aid of Road Safety Week, an initiative by the charity Brake and sponsored by Specsavers.
Safety is of utmost importance
Ann Hudson, Rainbows and Brownies leader said: ‘We’re very grateful for these vests; they will be put to good use, especially with nights becoming darker.
‘The safety of our children is of the greatest importance. These vests will allow the children to walk safely as it grows darker outside, as well as ensure the children are visible to drivers on outings with the Rainbows and Brownies.’
Easing parents' worries
Store director Amar Sharma said: ‘We want to make sure that children are safe and visible at night as winter is fast approaching.
‘Since the clocks have changed and the days are shorter, we hope our donation will help keep parents’ and leaders’ minds at ease when they’re out and about.’
