Specsavers in Staines is delighted to offer a new service - ear wax removal - as part of an all-encompassing ear health check.
Here to help
The team of friendly audiologists have been fully trained to professionally remove excess ear wax which may be causing discomfort or difficulty hearing. The service is available from 1 November and Helen Belkhodja, hearing director is thrilled to offer this as an extension of their existing service.
A word from the hearing director
‘Amazingly, our ears biologically self-clean and ear wax helps to maintain the health of our ears. But problems can arise when items, such as cotton buds or ear plugs, are inserted into the ear.
'This interferes with the ear’s natural cleaning process and pushes wax and debris further into the ear, which can cause build-up or a blockage of the ear canal. Issues can also occur after an ear infection too.'
How ear wax impacts a hearing test too
Helen adds: ‘Wax build-up also makes it very difficult to perform accurate hearing tests, so this new service means customers can have everything managed at the same time.
‘If you notice any of the symptoms of impacted wax, including sudden or partial hearing loss, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness in the ear or earache, then we advise you to visit one of our audiologists in store who can help resolve the issue.'
Get your ears tested over the age of 55
Helen also recommends that anyone over the age of 55 has a hearing test every year as part of a regular health care routine.
Ear wax removal costs £35 per ear. The Specsavers Hearing Check App is also free to download on the App and Play store on iOS or Android devices, and advises whether a full check in store is recommended.
