Specsavers in Stafford has collected 500 pairs of used specs which will be used to improve eyecare in developing countries.
The store has been supporting Vision Aid Overseas for the last five years. The international charity is dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eyecare in impoverished countries.
The collected glasses will be sent to the charity, which raises funds by recycling the specs in an environmentally-friendly way.
Jason Guy, store director at Specsavers Stafford said: ‘It makes sense for us to support a charity that works towards improving someone’s eyesight.
Having better eyecare opens the door for people to obtain a better standard of education and, therefore, a better job.
‘We will continue to collect old pairs of specs for the charity, so if you have any unwanted or old glasses please do not hesitate to donate them; broken or dirty, the condition is not a factor!’
