A South Shields opticians has received a Platinum Employer Award after being recognised for outstanding people management skills.

The aim of the initiative is to deliver tangible business results through investing time and effort in the people and Specsavers on King Street is proud to be awarded this prestigious status.

Platinum Employer is the key initiative to support Specsavers’ 2020 ambition of becoming ‘famous as a great place to work’.

The initiative is an externally validated accreditation scheme which focuses on five key areas – talent management, recruitment and induction, performance management and reward, learning and development and lastly employee communications and engagement.

John Perkins, Specsavers joint group CEO, said: ‘The Platinum Employer initiative is one that Specsavers fully supports and we hope that over time all Specsavers stores will be awarded this status.

‘Platinum Employer aims to improve employee engagement and deliver enhanced commercial performance through enabling staff to be at their very best.’
