Specsavers in South Shields has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards.
The Specsavers store on King Street has been nominated for two accolades at the national 2018 Optician Awards.
The opticians is in the running to scoop the titles of Multiple Practice of the Year and Contact Lens Practice of the Year.

Bryan Clark, director of Specsavers South Shields, said: ‘We are over the moon with our nominations for this year’s Optician Awards.
‘We are very proud of our contact lens department – the team continually strive for the best for our customers which is why we are shortlisted.
‘An important aim of ours is also to assist in redeveloping South Shields high street which is why we have been so active and enthusiastic in improving our store.
‘We are looking forward to the awards ceremony and we all have our fingers crossed.’
The Multiple Practice nomination comes as the South Shields store is continuing to deliver more to its customers through heavy IT investment in store and continual adaptation to meet the needs of all of its customers.
The judges will be looking for clinical, commercial and community excellence and big team working. Meanwhile the contact lens department – staffed by a team of six clinical assistants with a combined 78 years’ of service at the store – will be assessed based on the strategies they use to promote contact lens wear.
The awards have been established for over 20 years therefore they have become the highlight of the year for many optical practices, and a real achievement in the optical industry.
The teams will find out if they have been successful at a ceremony on 14 April at Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
