Specsavers in Southsea is appealing for the local community to donate any old specs they have to the store’s Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) appeal.
The store is renewing its support for the charity this year to help provide important eyecare services to people living in challenging conditions in Africa.
Residents with old glasses to spare can drop them off at the collection box located at Specsavers Southsea. These glasses are then collected and recycled, with funds raised from the reusable parts used to fund eye care projects in Burkina Faso, Ghana and other African countries.
Julia Moulton, store director at Specsavers Southsea, said: ‘Every donation we receive will help to make a positive difference to people who find it difficult to access professional eyecare and glasses.’
