A local writer and pop star was a big winner at the Specsavers Book Awards last month.
Tom Fletcher, who was born in Harrow and went on to join the band McFly, won two awards for sales in excess of a quarter a million books in the UK.
Books for kids
The Silver awards were for his books for kids, The Dinosaur That Pooped A Plane, which Tom wrote with fellow McFly star Dougie Poynter, and his solo effort, The Christmasaurus.
The Specsavers Bestseller Awards cover sales throughout the 21st century, and are run by Nielsen Book, the official recorder of book sales in the UK.
Tejas Bhatt, store director in South Harrow, said: ‘Tom is clearly a very talented guy, and we would like to congratulate him on his success so far.
‘Tom is also notable for his choice of glasses, which are always really stylish. So if he has inspired you to experiment with a new look, why not come and see us soon.’
