Specsavers in Southend is celebrating its 30th birthday on Saturday 13 May, and to mark the landmark occasion the team at the local opticians are set to put on a festivity to remember.
As the store first opened in the 1980s it’s only fitting to mark the 30 years with staff dressed for the 80s decade in a number of flamboyant classic 80s outfits. The shop-floor will be adorned with a fancy balloon arch and other party bunting, as well as a celebratory birthday cake.
The store also plans to host a one-off competition for 10 lucky locals to win a pair of free Specs.
All for a good cause
In addition the Specsavers staff want to give something back to the local community, and as part of the day the store staff will undertake a number of fundraising activities to raise money for a local charity.
John Staunton, senior ophthalmic director at the Specsavers Southend store, said: ‘Specsavers has been part of the Southend high street for 30 years and we want to celebrate that and thank our loyal customers.’
Pulling out all the stops
John added: ‘We really want to pull out all the stops on May 13 so will have lots of fun activities for locals as well as some fundraising activities too.
‘It’s going to be a great day so all locals are welcome to pop in anytime!’
