Solihull store director Brad Parkes has turned his hand to a spot of writing with the launch of his first new book.
Making Clubs Work, published by Sue Richardson Associates, is Brad’s first published work, which he launched at Drayton Manor Family Theme Park. It’s a practical guide to creating successful clubs, societies and other membership organisations and provides strategies and recommendations to help any group, large or small, retain and acquire new members and stay focused and functioning as an enterprise.
The book is presented in a lively way through a story scenario which helps bring it to life, as well as Brad providing real life examples, case studies and hints and tips to apply in order for an organisation to be successful.
‘Membership clubs and organisations play such a vital role in providing people with a sense of belonging, a place and a purpose and it’s so important that these organisations of all sorts and sizes survive and thrive,’ said Brad, who has been involved with membership organisations at the highest levels for a number of years.
Specsavers Founder, Dame Mary Perkins is one of many who have commended Brad on his work, as she said; ‘This book is written in a style that makes it easy to read, and being centred on a main story made up of a number of anecdotes, stories and metaphors that allows the reader to explore their own reality and how the principles can be employed in their clubs or teams makes this a uniquely simple yet very effective volume.’
